TWL are bringing back Hong Kong Based tailoring setup, Prologue.
TWL or also known as The Working Lads are a group of three Malaysian chaps who are very enthusiastic about tailored garments. Between the three of them, whom I have never personally met as yet (only via email), they have tried to search for the best value tailor there is in Kuala Lumpur.
These chaps have also ventured to try out Hong Kong and Australian based tailors. However, according to them, they still feel that the things they want in a suit is still lacking due to various reasons such as construction method as well as the most common aspect of bespoke tailoring - the high entry costs. Hence, they have said that they found that Prologue would be able to meet that requirement and even brought them down here for an innaugural trunk show early last October 2017.
I was emailed by one of them to check out the people at Prologue then but I wasn't available then. This time, they have another trunk show coming up on the 6 to 7 January at
Capri by Fraser, Bangsar South.
Appointment Schedule:
Saturday (6 January): 10.00am - 7.00pm
Sunday (7 January): 10.00am - 12.00pm
Venue:
Capri by Fraser, Bangsar South
To schedule and appointment, please email twlads.co@gmail.com or follow them on Instagram (@twlads.co) for updates
As for Prologue, who seem to be Hong Kong based. This setup was founded by three gentlemen (what a coincidence) Chris, Jerry and Maslow, who seem to know their stuff (I basically follow Maslow on Instagram). According to what I've read, they've tried the best there is in Europe and Asia. With the knowledege from commissioning their own tailored pieces, they offer semi-bespoke which combines the best of MTM and bespoke.
All of Prologue’s jackets and suits feature full floating canvasses, slightly extended unpadded shoulders, backward slanting shoulder seams, hand padded lapels and hand finishing (bar-tacks securing all flaps and vents, buttonholes sewn with buttonhole twist, Milanese teardrop lapel buttonhole, to name a few). Trousers are typically high waisted and pleated with handsewn pick stitching on the fly, outseams and pocket edges, and finished with handsewn bar-tacks at all stress points (pocket edges, darts and pleats).
Quite like the ones offered by Italian bespoke tailors Liverano in many ways (according to my eyes, that is).
I received this email only today and the show is only a few days away. So if any are interested, do email them at the address above.
