Yes. No postings for a while. But I have been busy you see. Here you see yours truly in the company of some distinguished gentlemen in many ways, not including of how they are attired. We were in the Cameron Highlands Resort the night after the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Rally held for the members of the automotive media in conjunction with the Malaysian launch of the newly facelifted W205 Mercedes-Benz C-Class here.

Why you need to go Linen for your Baju Melayu and for Hari Raya

It is almost Hari Raya Aidil Fitri here and I am in the midst of preparing for the festivities. This year I had my tailor make me another set of 'Baju Melayu', the traditional Malay outfit that Malay men usually use during these types of festive seasons. There is the Hari Raya Haji, or the Aidil Adha celebrations also that some of us don this outfit. Of course, it is also worn during family weddings too and (in black) at official government or royal functions. This is my latest, fuschia coloured baju Melayu in Linen. 

The pocket square dilemma. To use or not to use.

You do not use it actually. A pocket square is usually a fancy name for a silk, linen or cotton handkerchief that basically sits in the left breast pocket of your blazer, sports jacket or suit. I suppose that handkerchief's main purpose is to accessorize a blazer, jacket or suit jacket. Somewhat like a lapel pin or a  boutonniere which accessorizes  the lapel, this does it for the breast pocket. But this is actually more important than one that sits on the lapel. I'll get to explaining that later.

Anyway, the pocket square is a handkerchief that sits in that top pocket. Do you actually take it out and use it? You could. But then if you've folded it nicely and you like the way it sits it would be wise if you actually carried another hanky that you could use. Like I do.

Today I attended a product launch event at one of those hotels in downtown Kuala Lumpur. It was an event where a lot of people came dressed in suits and blazers. One important detail which everyone seems to have forgotten is the pocket square. Or the handkerchief that should reside in the jacket's breast pocket.
I had mine, but no one else seems to have remembered theirs. In a formal,  semi formal or business-like function one should pay extra attention to this detail. A matching tie would be nice if required.
