In my previous post I talked about sewing or stitching crows foot buttons on my polo shirts. Or any of my shirt for that matter. If you know how to sew a little this, and pick stitching could be done by oneself. So personally if one has the skill, it is possible to change or embellish any of your clothing with supposedly hand sewn details that most who market this stuff like to hype about and make it a super big issue.
Personally, crows feet buttons and even pick stitching has become novelty to me. It is partly because I can do this myself (somewhat properly. So, it is the fit of the clothes, the styling and then material rather than adding stuff like this to a garment that is more important.. Take for example the pocket of the pair of trousers shown above (inside and outside of the pocket). Pick stitched by a machine as the lines are perfect. A handsewn pick stitch would be a little untidy and adds a certain rustic charm. Some Neapolitan sports jackets have this and they look stunning. But this pick stitching is now just for a bit of stylish trim. Devoid of any soul. It has no real value. Maybe a little bit more aesthetic, but that's about it. From a few feet away a person without 20/20 vision may not notice, in fact most won' t even care about it in the first place. Of course it is for one's own satistaction so most will say.
So they are actually novelty, aesthetic and that's about it. Nothing to be really worked up about. Remember it is the fit, then the cut or the styling of the clothes and then its the material. Everything else comes next.
I did this crows foot stitched buttons. On a really cheap polo shirt. What does it add other than some aesthetic value? It is merely novelty to me.
